how expensive is turkey these days? how much do you guys think i should budget a day with not moving around that much sleeping in hostels and eating mostly street food?

Tue, February 28, 2006 - 12:52 PMLots of modest accomodations are $30-40 a night, less in off-season. These would be the same that perhaps 6-8 years ago were more like $8-10 a night. Transportation has also gone up in cost (due to really high petrol prices) - Istanbul to Ankara can run $40 one way for a quality bus. However, if you want to do the youth hostel thing, prices are less, of course. -

If you take night buses you don't have to get a hotel, so you have no transportation costs.
